reading three various takes on narcissism of today's technologically enhanced and self-obsessed youth here, here and here, "lack of empathy" -- that stood out.

empathy is a difficult and rare commodity in the world where anything is possible, if only you work hard, and stay focused. empathy on a daily basis would require certain slowness/ calmness/ attunneness(?) and solid sense of self, which is hard to hold onto within myriad or projected lives that look so much better than yours.

all in all the selfishness itself, as a limit to empathy strikes me as inherently ever-present and never-ending,  just like fundamentall aloneness of being, if not to say further -- consequential to the realisation of solitude of personal responsibility.
